It appears that there may be little slow-down in Saugeen Shores when it comes to residential building.

In January 2009, there were three building permits issued for additions and renovations for a value of $25,000.  In January, 2010, there were four permits issued at a value of $54,200.  In addition, in 2010, there were four permits issued for new builds at a value of $1,220,000 and an overall residential total of eight permits.

On the commercial side however, numbers were down slightly.  In 2009, there were two permits issued for a value of $52,000 while this year there was only one permit issued for a value of $1,500.

In 2009, the overall total was $77,000 while this year, 2010 to date, the total is $1,275,700

It is anticipated that numbers will again change with the affordable housing initiative that will begin this year in Port Elgin.
