| Greetings all: It is a hot muggy afternoon
here. I hear parts of US are getting yet another snowstorm. Have
not heard if Ontario has had any wintry weather since I left.
This morning we were up before dawn and left for church in
Cite Soleil at 6AM. The church was full and service was joyful
and very moving. Felt like I was back in Africa so I was quite
at home. I was reminded as the folk lifted their hands in praise
and as the children played and sang, that most if not all had
lost someone in the quake. The wall around the church is broken
down and there were cracks in the wall but structurally it is
safe by Haitian standards at least.
The 3 new American medical folk have arrived and the mix is
very different. Our team is quite a lot smaller so we will see
fewer folk per day this week. Our actual work hours are from
about 8 to 3PM,but then there is clean-up and packing the van to
return to base. Then some days we have to fight traffic and go
to the UN health cluster meetings where many NGO's doing health
care meet to get updates and share information. Driving through
the city is interesting to say the least. We then get back to
base about 5.
