The Tiverton Thunder bantam girls have won the WOAA white division year-end tournament championship. The
girls opened the tournament Friday night (March 5) in Belmore with a
1-0 win over a very-determined Kincardine team. Amber Woods scored the
lone goal, assisted by Sarah Catto. |
TCDMHA came out fast and furious in the second and by the end of the
period, the score was 2-2. And that's the way it stayed for the rest of
the game, plus two overtime periods. Tiverton finally captured the championship after a nail-biting shoot-out. Goal scorers were Sarah Catto and Lindsey Gossell. Goaltender Elyse Wolski was amazing between the pipes all weekend. She stood on her head many times to keep Tiverton in the game. The Tiverton girls appreciate their coaching staff: coach Mike Catto, assistant coach Dave Beamish, trainer Kelly Catto and manager Kim Catto, for a very successful season. They also appreciate the Tiverton Old Diggers for providing the team with new hockey jerseys, and Scotiabank for its very generous donation. |
