Scientific wonders at KTTPS science fair

Students in Grades 5 and 7 participated in the Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School science fair held Wednesday (March 10) at the school.

Guest judges talked with the young scientists about their projects and the public was invited to tour the science fair in the evening.

The Grade 5 judges' choice awards went to: 

• Anika Van Veen, "Wonders of Water Wheels" 
• Tori Hodgins, "Small But Mighty"
• Adam Ballagh, "Floating Houses"
• Lauren Andrews, "Crystals"
• Will Sharpe, "Open the Canopy"
• Tanner Walker, "Capillary Action"
• Owen Musselman, "Trebuchet Wonders"
• Jordan Dowling, "Green Energy"

Chosen to represent KTTPS at the Regional Science Fair are Annika Van Veen, Tori Hodgins, Lindsay Glover, Lauren Andrews, Sydney Hasson, Will Sharpe, Tanner Walker, Dayn Freiburger, and Owen Musselman

The Grade 7 judges' choice awards went to:

• Dalton Hayes, "The Legenday Go-Kart"
• Spencer Fenton, "Water Purification and Filtration"
• Joshua Altenbeck, "Colour Your World"
• Samantha Ault, "Tickle Your Tastebuds"
• Lori Ogilvie, "Can You Beat the Coppertop?"
• Eartha Phorson, "Cosmetics and Your Skin"
• Kaitlyn Halsetd, "What Is Colour Blindness?"
• Stephen Hlinka, "Helicopters"

Chosen to represent KTTPS at the Regional Science Fair are Eartha Phorson, Stephen Hlinka, Taylor Hasson, Joshua Altenbeck, Lori Ogilvie, Delaney Evans, Derek Eberl, and Dalton Hayes.

Olivia Convay, Grade 7, did a study of "Perfume" and even created her own

Delaney Evans, Grade 7, shows how her potato battery works

Wyatt Geddes, Grade 7, did his project about "Frogs" and holds a real dissected frog he obtained from KDSS

Adam Ballagh, Grade 5, demonstrates how his floating house (L) works compared to a regular house

Jordan Dowling, Grade 5, shows how her solar power project works
