The first-ever Kincardine District Secondary School Knights figure skating team travelled to Aylmer on Thursday (March 11) to compete in an invitational tournament hosted in the Skate Canada Western Ontario region.

The skaters practised with their professionals in the Kincardine and Ripley figure skating clubs and were very well prepared and trained for the competition.

Twenty-three schools competed and flights were large; in some cases, skaters competed against up to 20 other skaters.

The girls had terrific results:

  • Judith Gutter – 16th preliminary Free
  • Jaclyn McBride – 2nd Interpretive, 3rd Solo Dance 2
  • Megan Lowry – 2nd Team Elements 2, 6th Solo Dance 3
  • Amanda P. Smith – 2nd Team Elements 2, 9th Solo Dance 3
