Several recommendations have been made recently regarding improvements to the waterfront of Saugeen Shores and, particularly, the beach at Port Elgin. The Parks & Trails Advisory Committee recently requested a listing of the waterfront improvement projects that have been carried out over the past five years. Mike Myatt, Director of Community Services, presented the updated list at Monday night's Town Council meeting. According to Myatt, "Approximately $825,000 has been invested in a wide variety of waterfront improvements dating back to 2005. The list is a result of public meetings and discussions with local residents in an attempt to gather public input to try and determine the scope of work that is required to upgrade the waterfront. In Myatt's report, he said that staff will be focusing on cosmetic improvements in 2010, along with minor capitals improvements. A report will be brought back to Council later in the year as part of 2011 budget discussions. |
