The 2010 budget was presented to council this week and is expected to be approved on March 29th.

When the preliminary operating and capital budget was presented to Council in February, a tax levy increase of $983,707 or 12 per cent, would have been required.  New tax generated through growth however, reduced the impact to $740,000.  Of that amount, $480,000 or six per cent (6%) is represented by fixed increased to board and committees as well as commitments to the Dr. Earl Health Centre, the Affordable Housing project, union increases and the election.

In addition, $70,000 has been transferred out of the Tax Stabilization Reserve further reducing the impact.

Sewer rates that went up to $11.75 in June, 2009 will also go up again this June to $15.00

Council appeared pleased with the budge as presented as it now represents a levy increase of $230,546 or 2.82 per cent.
