What may seem as a social venue for the professional women of Southampton and Port Elgin, has become in reality one of the most prolific fundraising groups in the area.

The group added another donation to the Southampton Hospital Foundation on Thursday, March 18, when Cham-bettes' President, Cherie Duhaime, presented $2,000 to Foundation Chair, Brian Wakelin and Christine Kelly.

The money brings the Cham-bettes' total donations to the hospital to $40,000 since the group's inception.  "When you consider that these monies have been raised through things like bake sales, garage sales and different community events, it's really quite an accomplishment."

Recently, the group donated $5,500 to the Rotary Park Accessibility Playground Project and has also given money to many other causes.

"I speak from personal experience that this hospital is of paramount importance to our community," adds Duhaime, "and the more people who donate to it, the better off we all will be."

Christine Kelly of the Saugeen Memorial Foundation said that this money will go toward the Vital Signs monitor.
