The South Bruce OPP's new detachment commander, inspector Bill Klym, and staff sergeant Paul Bradley, were warmly welcomed to the community at the Kincardine council meeting Wednesday night (April 7). Klym has been in Kincardine since last September. He began his law enforcement career in 1984 as an auxiliary OPP officer. He joined the OPP in March, 1987, and came to Goderich in 1990. From there, he worked in the Western Region Tactical Unit, became a detective and then was appointed sergeant in charge of the unit at Toronto Airport, worked in the intelligence unit at Niagara Falls, and then worked for main security operations for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway. Klym was seconded to the RCMP for two years before becoming a superintendent and unit commander with the Emergency Response Team. Two years later, he became inspector at the South Bruce OPP. He and his wife, Debra, live in Guelph but are planning to move to Kincardine. They have two children. Bradley has been staff sergeant in Kincardine for almost three years. He began his career in 1987 at the Central Region office, starting as a fitness instructor and later becoming an instructor with the Emergency Response Team, and then a sergeant working at general headquarters.

Bradley was an instructor at the OPP academy, and was officer in charge of the logistics for the United States presidential visit to Ottawa in 2004.He came to Kincardine as staff sergeant in 2007. He and his wife, Debra, enjoy golf and travel. Bradley is still an avid runner, so Wilson advises criminals that if he's chasing them, they may as well stop and surrender. Wilson said these two senior officers at the South Bruce detachment have a total of 49 years of experience. "They are well-suited to meet the administrative and operational needs at this detachment," he said, "and they are a pleasure to work with."
