Special council meeting approves Connecting Link funding

Saugeen Shores Town Council held a special meeting on Monday afternoon to approve funding for  connecting link capital improvement on Goderich Street between Tomlinson Drive and Concession Road #10.

The Ministry of Transportation approved $611,205.00 to the Connecting Link Program however, because the capital improvements will not be completed by the March 31st deadline, council agreed that:

• An unexpended amount up to a maximum of $175,000 will be used for the connecting link

• that a final project summary report detailing expenditures, use of provincial funding and outcomes achieved will be submitted by the Town's CAO to the Ministry, which may request an independent audit.

• funds not used for the project in accordance with Ministry guidelines will be returned to the Ministry.

• any funds not expended by March 31, 2012 will be returned to the Province.
