Final town budget approved

Saugeen Shores Municipal budget for 2010 was unanimously passed at Monday night's Council  meeting.

The town set the tax levy in dollars at  $8,405.855, which includes growth of $243,172 (3.07%)  and a levy increase of $230,546 (2.82%) for a total levy increase of $473.718.

In addition, the 2010 lease rates for all municipal. owned properties will be increased by five per cent (5%) retroactive to January 1, 2010.

"I think we really have to thank our town Treasurer, Lori Sweiger," said Councilor Diane Huber. "I don't quite know when it all started but it's through her efforts of engaging us (Council) early that we are able to pass this budget tonight.  There are other communities around us who aren't even close to finalizing their budgets."
