Cruise Nights begins its 23rd year this week on Thursday, June 1st under the big flag on High Street in Southampton.
The annual tradition is an opportunity for classic car owners to show off their vehicles and for visitors to stroll about during the evening listening to the tunes of the 50s and 60s.
The car show was the brainchild of Mr. Cruiser, Gary Brown, in 1994 to raise funds for the local Saugeen Memorial Hospital and, over the years, has raised almost $250,000 .
The weekly summer event is sponsored by Mowbray's Canadian Tire with the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and the Town assisting.
Without the dedicated volunteers however, Cruisers' Night would not happen. The commitment of core volunteers, who sell the 50/50 tickets, results in what is a major fundraiser for the hospital.
Stroll the evening away taking in the classic cars on the shore of Lake Huron and watch what is known as one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world
Car owners contribute a nominal twoonie fee to show their cars but ... strolling is free!
Mark your calendars for Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and drop by Cruisers' Night in Southampton.
