It may look as though Council is going back to childhood but ... it's really only one of the prelude events to the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Saugeen Shores. When the torch arrives on December 28 in Saugeen Shores, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime event and the chance to introduce the torch bearer will also be a one-time only opportunity. In the Olympic spirit, rather than play 'favourites', Council has decided to give everyone an equal opportunity to 'win' the chance to introduce the torch bearer.

While it might be equal opportunity, it might also prove to be a little difficult as the Councilors will have to race, on 'kiddie trykes', across the ice at The Plex on the day the Torch is expected to arrive, December 28, in Saugeen Shores. The one thing Council is short of is tricycles. Nine are needed and all must be children-sized, although Councilors says that "... larger children's three-wheelers would be appreciated." Anyone who can 'lend' a tryke can contact the town at 519-832-2008 or email: ghogd2@bmts.com |
