Gypsy Jive Band entertains at Bruce County Museum

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre continued its Candlelight Music series Sunday and it was truly a cultural experience.

Playing to a full house in the Museum's theatre, the Gypsy Jive Band, brought its own unique musical flavour, known as Klezmer music.

Klezmer is a musical style  that began in the villages and ghettos of Eastern Europe where Jewish and gypsy troubadours performed at events such as weddings.  The Klezmer, or instrumental music, with its definitive eastern gypsy flair, has had a wide resurgence of popularity over the past few years.

At Sunday's Candlelight Series concert at the Museum in Southampton, the trio performed a wide variety of music that blended west with east.  The Jewish music of Hanukkah and Christian raditional Christmas music were blended together creating a unique sound.

Next Sunday's concert features The Bruce Brass Quintet.  All concerts:  Admission by donation.
