Bruce County has a new Warden and he's from Saugeen Shores.

Mayor Mike Smith was elected to today after two ballots and officially took the oath as Warden.

"I'm very excited about it," said Smith, "and look forward to it.  I know there are going to be a lot of challenges coming forward but there are also some very good projects, such as the Affordable Housing, that will go ahead."

One of the new Warden's tasks will be the County budget process, which has already started and, according to Smith, it will set the priorities for next year.

"I have to thank our Saugeen Shores Council and staff and, of course, my family because they have really supported me in this and I know that they'll continue to when my Warden responsibilities call.  I also look forward to working with the various County Committees and look forward to their guidance."
