Why is Google so good?

Google is run by innovative people and they have great 'digs' for the people to work in 24 hours a day with food and exercise available at all times.  It reminds one of the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo Ontario.

Let's take a look at two pictures that tell the tale of how they are nimble and innovative.

Google Digs

The above picture shows a number of things.  A google Pod consists of 6 to 7 collaborators in one room.  They don't have cubicles that block conversation and their view of the others in the large room.

Notice that they have a huge wall to draw diagrams and ideas so all can see.  The room is well lit.

The final thing to notice is that every member of this small team has two huge screens, not one.  They can work between the screens without hiding one window on top of another.  Many have more than one screen.  This is amazingly effective.

Google Slide

To get between floors quickly... or at least down <smile>, Google has slides.  This is more than whimsical.  It interjects a sense of fun into the work place.  Who would not want to be on their team?

There is more to learn from this picture, however.  The people to the right are in conference.  They are not locked up in a closed conference room, no, they are gathered around a table in the light and open to observation.
