The sewage expansion project for the area north of the Saugeen River, is still on the books as it comes up again at Monday's council meeting when Dave Burnside, head of Engineering for the town of Saugeen Shores will present a report. The Environmental Assessment (EA) for the project has now been completed and has been sent on to the Minister of the Environment (MOE). The MOE has 21 days from receipt of the EA package with the deadline for a decision now being December 28th. To date, the pre-tender estimate for all costs of the project, as proposed, is $20.1 M, including $1.44M for contingencies, allowances and engineering. It is expected however, that only a fraction of that contingency amount would be needed if project management and supervision is completed in-house. |
With the pre-tender estimate of the project costs as proposed and given the proposed cost sharing model, the individual residential connection fee would be $8,977 and for non-residential a connection for a 150mmŲ service would be $14,447 based on a $20.1 Million total.
