RIDE CHECK RESULTS IN CRIMINAL CHARGES

A 25-year-old Peterborough man will appear in Owen Sound Criminal Court May 20th after being stopped by police during a RIDE check Wednesday afternoon. Officers from Bruce Peninsula OPP were conducting the checks in Colpoy village on Bruce Road 9 when a vehicle attempted to avoid the checkpoint. The car was stopped and found to be operating with a stolen license plate and no insurance. The car was removed by tow truck and two other persons in the vehicle were released without charges. The Peterborough man faces several charges, Possession of Stolen Property, Using an Unauthorized License Plate and Operating the Vehicle without Insurance.

In another traffic stop Wednesday, a 36-year-old Cape Croker woman was found to be driving with a suspended drivers license. Her vehicle was towed and she will appear in Walkerton Traffic Court on June 1st charged with Driving under Suspension as well as Driving with an Expired License Plate. The traffic stop occurred on French Bay Road, Saugeen First Nation.
