COYOTE SIGHTINGS IN KINCARDINE
(KINCARDINE, ON.) –
The South Bruce OPP have been receiving reports of Coyotes in or near the town of Kincardine. Coyotes are intelligent, adaptable and curious creatures, but they are also shy, cautious and non-confrontational. To help keep coyotes away from your property, the South Bruce OPP are offering the following tips:

Dispose of garbage in secure containers that can’t be opened by wildlife

Don’t leave garbage or food waste outside and accessible

Use a secure, enclosed compost bin. Don’t put meat, dairy or eggs in compost

If you have fruit trees, pick the ripe fruit immediately and clear fallen fruit from the ground

Consider installing outdoor lighting that is motion activated

Trim or clear away bushes near your home that an animal may seek cover in

Anyone interested in more information on coyotes can visit the Ministry of Natural Resources website at www.mnr.gov.on.ca or call toll free 1 800 667 1940.
Anyone having information that can assist Police with investigations is asked to call South Bruce OPP at 519-396-3341 (Kincardine), 519-881-3130 (Walkerton) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 -TIPS (8477). OPP Dispatch – 1-888-310-1122
