VISITOR FROM GERMANY CHARGED WITH RACING

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – A 38-year-old man from Zwickay, Germany found himself on the side of the road after being stopped by Bruce Peninsula OPP for speeding. The visitor to Canada was clocked at 148 km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Hwy. 6, north of Wiarton, late Sunday morning. The vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded for 7 days and the driver is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound Traffic Court on May 17th.

TWO 11 YEAR OLDS CAUGHT IN THE ACT

(HEPWORTH, ON.) – Two 11-year-olds were turned over to police after being caught stealing beer from a Hepworth business. The pair was caught with a six pack by the property manager Sunday afternoon. The children were turned over to their parents by police.

CAR TRAILER STOLEN

(PARK HEAD, ON.) – A 1999 homemade car trailer was reported stolen by its owner Friday, April 16th. The trailer was parked at a business on Bruce Road 10 north of Park Head. The owner has not used the trailer for some time and it may have gone missing anytime since last fall. The trailer is black in colour with 2 axels. If anyone has information about this trailer, please call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.

SPRING SEAT BELT CAMPAIGN

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.)
Statistics from the Spring Seat Belt Campaign which runs from April 14th to the 24th, are starting to be tallied. During the first 2 days across the province, the OPP has stopped 145,487 vehicles issuing 1,340 seat belt tickets. Locally, Grey County OPP stopped 3,963 with 29 offence notices issued and 2,103 vehicles were checked in Bruce County with 16 charges being laid. The fine for a seat belt violation with court costs is $240.00.
