Olympic Torch Fever is on the way as the torch relay will be coming through the village on Dec. 28 at 4:32 p.m., starting at Bumpers and ending at the arena at 4:41 p.m. Show your Olympic spirit by lining the streets for this event! With the torch, comes a little bit of Tiverton as well. Matheson Kincaid, son of Kate Kincaid of Kincardine is a Location Manager/Pilot for the Cross Canada Torch Relay.

He has been with the entourage since it started in Vancouver. Matheson has deep roots in Tiverton. His great, great-grandparents, Margaret and Dan Matheson, were early settlers on the fourth of Bruce. His great-grandparents, Mary and Ted Taylor, lived in Tiverton.  His grandmother, Betty Mitchell of Kincardine, was born and raised in the village as was his Uncle John Taylor who is a well-known icon at the Tiverton arena and the ball park. Good work Matheson, the village is proud of you and we know your family is too! Special thanks to my Auntie Mary Francis for her wonderful detective work to bring you this information.

On Sunday, Dec. 20, there will be a free public skate at the Tiverton arena with a food donation for the Kincardine Food Bank. The free skate will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. You can drop off food donations anytime that day (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Tiverton arena. Please join us there for a skate in the afternoon (students from KTTPS will be collecting the food and delivering it to the Kincardine Food Bank as part of a "Who is Nobody?" project they are doing).

Mason Ruthven spent a week with Grandma Ruthven while his parents, Adam and Ann Marie, were away in Jamaica. He was spoiled, got lots of cuddles, spent time at the farm and was out and about with Grandma.
