Richard Martin, chairman of the Bruce Telecom board of directors, has announced the appointment of Eric Dobson as the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) at Bruce Telecom, effective Friday (Dec. 18).

Dobson comes to the Kincardine phone company after a very successful career with Rogers Communications where he served as senior vice-president, business and carrier services. During his tenure there, he exceeded profitability targets and was instrumental in building a highly-effective management team.

Martin said the board is looking forward to working with Dobson. "We are confident that his results-oriented management style will stand the company in good stead as it moves into an increasingly-competitive telecom environment," said Martin.

Dobson officially takes over his new position Jan. 4, 2010.

Former president and CEO Mike Andrews submitted a letter of resignation, citing personal reasons for leaving his post on Dec. 4. He was hired last fall, taking over from Hans O. Nilsson who retired in the spring of last year.
