Members of the Kincardine Theatre Guild deliver a singing telegram from deputy Laura Haight to Kincardine council

The Kincardine Theatre Guild brought tidings of fun and laughter to Kincardine council by way of a singing telegram last night (Dec. 16), at the beginning of the final council meeting of the year.

Deputy mayor Laura Haight enlisted the theatre guild's help to wish her colleagues a Merry Christmas. The troupe, complete in festive regalia, performed the following to the tune of "Silver Bells." The inspired lyrics recount some of the trials and tribulations for Kincardine council throughout 2009.

Merry Christmas to Kincardine Council

All the sidewalks, and the streetlights
Cause the budget some strain
Many patients still needing a doctor.
The future's not bright, for the dump site
The wards are at it again
And on every agenda we hear:

The clinic smells
And Tiverton wells
The pavilion's still asking for money.
We're in a rut
At the pizza hut
The budget can't take anymore.

Steelback never got, the Tiverton contract
Now they might have to close
That committee gets nothing from Santa!
The old town hall site, still a big fight
Last year all the pipes froze
And on every agenda we hear:

Deputy mayor Laura Haight has a good laugh, thanks to the Kincardine Theatre Guild's singing telegram

The clinic smells
And Tiverton wells
The pavilion's still asking for money.
We're in a rut
At the pizza hut
The budget can't take anymore.

Things aren't so bad, of that we're so glad
Tourists all summer long
Loved the beach and the pipe band and shopping.
Now it's Christmas, and Laura (Haight) wishes
That we sing you this song
Wishing everyone best Christmas cheer!

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in Kincardine.
Ring-a-ling
Hear them ring
The pavilion will call you next year.
